NJGCB is a design-build firm serving Bergen and Essex Counties, specializing in architecturally designed luxury homes built with high-quality green materials and energy-efficient practices.


We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Project Manager with strong field experience in ground-up residential construction. This role supports the Project Manager while actively contributing in the field to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support & Field Coordination

  • Assist in managing multiple projects while maintaining budget, schedule, quality, safety, compliance policies, and procedures.
  • Communicate with clients and provide weekly progress updates
  • Conduct daily site visits and take daily progress photos
  • Assist with documentation and required paperwork

Subcontractor & Crew Management

  • Support management of subcontractors and in-house crews
  • Actively schedule and follow up with subs
  • Order materials and coordinate vendors
  • Receive and review material receipts
  • Return excess materials to control job costs

Quality & Risk Control

  • Conduct detailed punch lists at every stage of construction
  • Take preventive measures to protect homes from flooding
  • Ensure proper installation and risk mitigation measures (including sump systems) to prevent site damage.
  • Ensure work meets plans and specifications

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of experience reading architectural plans and building new homes
  • 5 to 7 years of experience supporting or managing multiple projects
  • 5 to 7 years managing subcontractors
  • Ground-up residential construction experience required. Remodel-only experience without ground-up exposure will not meet role requirements.
  • Strong understanding of architectural plans, site plans, elevations, and framing plans
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Vehicle allowance available for candidates with suitable work vehicles.

Hands-On Component

This is not a desk-only role. You may be required to:

  • Install sump pumps if necessary
  • Install door locks to secure properties
  • Perform minor trim or light electrical work when needed

Availability

  • Weekend work when required
  • Strong accountability and work ethic expected

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time, W-2 Employment
  • Pay $65,000 per year, based on experience
